Arita is land of bone china, Fukugawa and beautiful porcelain that royalty loves. The town of Arita is known for their famous porcelain. Famous names such as Fukagawa have their factories here. However, once a year during a group of Japanese holidays (Golden Week) is when these lovely varieties of porcelain is on sale. You can find gorgeous vases, plates, tiles but also everyday kitchenware. Only during this one week, several streets of Arita are closed off giving you a chance to bargain and hunt for those special items with vendors that display items in their various stalls.
